Community Forum and Pilot Boat - August 2009 update

"Community 3193 Forum" and the "Pilot Boat" navigating aid that goes with it, are initiatives of which the Beaumaris Black Rock Community Bank® is especially proud.

As a result of a gathering of Beaumaris and Black Rock Community Leaders on 27th May 2009, the Forum has made a submission to Bayside City Council for its 2009-2013 Council Plan.

Key areas of common interest identified in the submission are:

• "Measures of well-being" (community indicators) as a tool for social planning and community development.
• Enhancing volunteer participation by facilitating improved "matching" of those offering as volunteers, with those organisations and groups needing them.
• Strengthening the links between the "my3193" website and the Council's Information and Library services.
• Exploring more effective ways of harnessing and harmonising fundraising for community purposes: the potential for establishing a "community foundation" is one option.
